Safety truck

Last week on Friday the safety truck came to our school! I liked this truck because it was wheelchair accessible. In the truck we learnt many things such as how to stay safe in trucks blind zones and that trucks cant stop quickly. We watched a short video then explored the truck. I learnt how to keep myself safe around truck!

 

Art

Over the last few weeks we had to make a animated character online and then draw it onto a A3 piece of paper then paint it. I liked this activity because I like painting. although the first part of the activity was hard.

cheese

feta Edam and Parmesan are all brands of cheese, cheese is so Delicious. I love cheese! Cheese has milk in it it has dairy in it. cheese originated in Europe central Asia. cheese was founded in 8000 BC. 

So many snakes!

A Texas home owner reports seeing a few snakes under his house and it turns out there were over 40! He found out the snakes were under there after big county snake removal reported seeing "a few" snakes under his house but when he went and has a look there was actually heaps. so he contacted the snake removal company and later the worker pulled out 45 snakes.

Brunner mine site

Yesterday we went on a class trip to the Brunner Mine Site. We had to dress up and act out scenes from the past as well as take photos. We also learnt many things such as how coal is made. Then we went up to see the Stillwater grave where most of the men and boys are buried. My favourite part of the day was doing the acting because I like acting and it was really fun. Did you know that coal starts out as vegetation!

The minds afire

This week we have been reading a book called the mines afire because next Monday we are going to the mine for a day. The book has been set out as someone who was there on the days diary. Here are some facts about the mine explosion.

The Brunner mine exploded at 9:30 on Tuesday the 26th of march 1896.

It killed 65 miners down below. 

It was the worst mining disaster in New Zealand history.

whats been happening this week

This week we had to work in pairs and chose something that has happen in the world, I chose to work with Caysey and we don't it on the measles outbreak. Lastly we had to add it to a slide and quiz the rest of our class. I liked this activity

last week we had to learn our Mihi and then make a google slide about it. I found this activity hard because I didn't know what some of the words meant but when I found out it was fun!

Humpback whale found in amazon

A humpback whale was found in the amazon about 15 meters from the ocean wildlife experts are looking for clues on how this animal may have got there! They believe it is a 12 month old calf. It was found undergrowth on the Brazilian island of Marajo. It was 8 meters long. They found it on the 25th of December. My opinion is that I have no idea how the mamal could have got there but I assume that it got washed in from sea in a storm.
